Chalbi desert,Kenya
Utsjånad
The Chalbi desert is located in northern Kenya, Marsabit county, east of Lake Turkana. It spans over 100000 square kilometres. Chalbi means bare and salty and this is also one of the hottest and most arid places in Africa. Nomadic pastoralists like the Gabbra and Rendile people live in and around the Chalbi desert. Despite the heat, hardy animals like the camels, zebras, oryx and ostriches live here.
