Giriama Culture

The Giriama a sub group of the larger Mijikenda they inhabit the area of Mariakani and Kaloleni in Kilifi county. It should be noted the Mijikenda are also found in Coastal parts of Tanzania they include Digo sub tribe. They are commonly subsistence farmers planting crops and keeping animals. It is known as mixed farmingE.

Marriage is so sacred to them,the parents of the bridegroom look for the bride KUHASWA-traditional Giriama weddingKuhaswa,Malozi. A dowry which is something they negotiate until the reach an agreement. They have clans Thoya, Mweni, Nyale, NyundoCl. They are religius people. their God is called MulunguDini.

Samburu of Kenya

Samburu people are Nilotic found in North central part of Kenya. They are Nilotic ethnic group that speaks the Samburu dialect of the Maa language. this is spoken by Samburu and Maasai communities.
